Forsythe Championship Racing Teams

Team owner Gerald Forsythe was by far our biggest client for motorsport models from 1995 to 1999.   I don't think there was ever a time during that period, that we were not building a series of models for him to present to his business associates and friends.    We met him at least four times a year at race meets in the US and Canada, and spent many hours discussing his model requirements in the team hospitality area.   My wife and I really miss those times now that we have retired, and no longer go the race meetings.

1995
was the only year since 1991, that Gerald Forsythe was not involved in the Player's Ltd. Indy Car Team.      He still had his Player's Forsythe Indy Lights Team, but Barry Green had the Player's sponsorship on his #27 Indy car that year with driver Jacques Villeneuve.      Forsythe Racing fielded the #33 Reynard, with Teo Fabi, and a series of 1/10th. and two 1/5th. scale models were commissioned.

Teo Fabi also drove for Hall/VDS in 1993 in the #8 Pennzoil car

1999

"Forsythe Championship Racing Teams" ran a second team, with the new McDonald's sponsorship.     It was the #44 Car driven by a then newcomer to Champ Car, Tony Kanaan.      During that season, Tony won his first race at the U.S. 500, and  models were commissioned for the super speedway version to mark his "First 500 Mile Win" and the road course to mark his "First Champ Car Win".

As Greg Moore in 1998, and Tony Kanaan in 1999, had each won the U.S.500, Forsythe Championship Racing Teams commissioned a very special model to be built.     A 1/5th scale of each of the cars, back to back, on one base.   It is a huge model, almost 8 feet long.      We also decided for this model, to move the drivers, Greg and Tony, out of the cockpits, and sit them on the front centre of the base.        This model, along with all the other 1/5th scale models, commissioned by Mr. Forsythe, will be on display in the "Forsythe Racing Museum" being built in, I believe, Wheeling Illinois
